The Taj Mahal Mosque
On the west of the Taj mausoleum is the mosque made of red sandstone. It faces the mecca and is still used for prayers.
The floor of the mosque is red in colour and is laid with outlines of 569 prayer rugs.
The mosque sanctifies the area and provides a place for worship. There is a identical structure on the east side of the Taj mausoleum, the rest house, built probably to preserve the symmetry of the Taj mahal.
